A professional development conference to empower women and gender non‑conforming writers with tools, connections, and strategies to advance their careers. Mi'Jan Celie Tho-Biaz (creative leader and educator), Karina Puente (artist) and Yolanda Wisher (poet) will present the workshop "Tools of Transition: Wrangling Fears and Gaining Income Clarity":

Transitioning from full time employee into full time creative can feel simultaneously tricky and exciting. That said, the transition can be done, and done well. To make the shift – with a sense of sanity, values and vision in tact – three creative women have implemented core successful strategies. In this workshop we will cover four tried and true key aspects of mastering the transition phase, specifically: developing an annual and quarterly cash flow projection; identifying and forming a peer and seasoned mentor circle for ongoing advice and mutual support; workflow mapping; and strategically crafting multiple income streams that work for you, so you don’t inadvertently wind up spending all of your newly defined creative time working for others. Come away from this workshop with less fear, and better equipped with a solid set of strategies, tools and methods to choose from and apply before, during and after your transition phase.
